ABOUT THE MIND RUNNER
Kate is a founding member of the Muddy Runners, a running club in Hampshire set up in 2014. Kate qualified as a Leader and then a Coach in Running Fitness in 2015, became a Mental Health Champion for England Athletics in 2016 and a Run Leader Mentor in 2018. Now her main focus is on using running and movement to benefit and support mental health, in adults and children alike. Kate delivers sessions in primary schools and secondary schools, a parent and child running session, adult beginner sessions and Running Fitness classes. Kate also leads the club's #RunAndTalk sessions with England Athletics, encouraging people to come for a run and chat to friends about various subjects, including mental health, to try and reduce the stigma relating to this topic. 2019 saw the launch of England Athletic's new programme, #RunAndRevise, and Kate is leading projects in local schools in Hampshire, using running and movement to provide stress-relieving activities and mindfulness practice for young people during exam time. Kate is the lead coach for childrens' movement and mental health charity, stormbreak and also co-event director at the local junior parkrun and regularly visits local schools to spread the parkrun message. Kate is mum to three junior parkrunners, one of whom has just beaten her
5k PB and is now grounded for life ;)
